Missouri Fishing Intel is operated by Truman Lake Fishing Intel LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use our websites, membership services, fishing report services, guide submission tools, text message reminders, email communications, alerts, social media publishing to Facebook Pages we manage, and related services.

By using our services, you agree to the collection and use of information described in this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

We may collect information you provide directly to us, including:

  • name
  • email address
  • phone number
  • account login information
  • membership and subscription information
  • guide or contributor information
  • fishing report submissions
  • Personal Fishing Journal information, including waterbody, date, species, catches, depths, structure or cover, techniques, baits, colors, conditions, notes, photos, and other trip observations
  • Personalized Fishing Plan requests, preferences, and other trip planning information
  • photos, audio, notes, or other report materials submitted through our services
  • customer support messages
  • communication preferences
  • payment and billing-related information handled by our payment processors

We may also collect technical and usage information, including:

  • IP address
  • browser type
  • device information
  • pages visited
  • dates and times of use
  • referring website
  • cookies and similar technologies
  • general location inferred from device or IP information

How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • provide and operate our websites and services
  • manage user accounts and memberships
  • process subscriptions and payments
  • publish, review, organize, and manage fishing reports and related content
  • communicate with members, guides, contributors, and customers
  • send operational emails and text messages
  • send guide report reminders and missing-detail follow-ups
  • send lake, fishing, account, membership, or content update alerts to users who opt in
  • improve our website, services, content, and user experience
  • personalize Personalized Fishing Plans using relevant information from a member's own Fishing Journal and stated preferences
  • analyze Journal information and build or improve fishing intelligence, recommendations, and lake-wide, species-wide, seasonal, or community patterns
  • create and use de-identified or aggregated information for analytics, product improvement, and fishing intelligence
  • provide customer support
  • prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, or misuse of our services
  • comply with legal obligations

Personal Fishing Journal and Fishing Intelligence

Personal Fishing Journal entries are private to the member by default and are not automatically posted publicly. A member's own Journal history may be used to personalize that member's Personalized Fishing Plans, including by considering relevant prior techniques, depths, baits, presentations, experience, preferences, and fishing patterns. Not every plan will necessarily use Journal information.

We may also use de-identified or aggregated Journal information internally for analytics, seasonal analysis, lake-wide or species-wide trends, recommendations, product improvement, Personalized Fishing Plans, and community fishing intelligence. Our systems are designed to use de-identified and/or aggregated information when one member's Journal contributes to intelligence used for other members, rather than exposing that member's private Journal entry, identity, private notes, exact private fishing locations, or private Journal photos.

A Journal entry does not become a public fishing report merely because it is saved or used internally. Choosing “Submit this trip for review as a Member Report” is a separate, intentional action. Submitted information may be reviewed, edited or formatted, approved, rejected, and, if approved, published publicly or as member-access content under our normal content rules.

Facebook and Meta Platform Integration

Truman Lake Fishing Intel LLC operates a Meta Developer App named Missouri Fishing Intel Social. It allows authorized Missouri Fishing Intel administrators to connect Facebook Pages they manage and publish Missouri Fishing Intel content to those Pages. The integration uses Facebook Login for Business and the Meta Graph API.

Information accessed

When an authorized administrator connects a Facebook Page, the integration obtains Page identification information (including Page name and Page ID), the Page permissions and management tasks the administrator has authorized, and a Page access token. The integration requests the following Page permissions:

  • pages_show_list
  • pages_read_engagement
  • pages_manage_posts
  • pages_manage_engagement

The integration is intended for Facebook Pages authorized by our administrators. It is not used to harvest personal information about Facebook users.

How we use this information

We use information obtained through the integration to:

  • connect and identify authorized Facebook Pages
  • verify that the administrator has appropriate Page permissions
  • prepare, schedule, and publish fishing reports, articles, photographs, captions, and related content
  • publish approved first comments and website links
  • verify publication results and identify publishing failures
  • maintain records of scheduled and completed publishing activity

Posts are published through the Meta Graph API after authorization.

Security and storage

  • Page access tokens are stored encrypted using AES-256-GCM.
  • Encryption keys and Meta application secrets are kept on the server.
  • Temporary Facebook user access tokens obtained during authorization are not permanently stored.
  • Connection management is restricted to authorized Missouri Fishing Intel administrators.
  • Page connections, credentials, and publishing records are kept in protected database tables.
  • Stored credentials are not exposed on the public website or in browser responses.
  • Temporary connection sessions expire after approximately 10 minutes.

We retain Page connection and publishing records as long as reasonably necessary to operate the integration, maintain business records, and meet legal obligations, as described in the Data Retention section below.

Facebook Data Deletion Requests

Disconnecting a Page. Authorized Missouri Fishing Intel administrators can disconnect a Facebook Page through our administration platform. Disconnecting removes that Page's stored access credentials and disables future publishing through that connection. Disconnecting does not automatically delete posts already published on Facebook and does not erase all historical publishing records.

Revoking access in Facebook. You can also remove the integration from Facebook at any time:

  1. Open Facebook and go to Settings & privacy, then Settings.
  2. Select Business Integrations.
  3. Find Missouri Fishing Intel Social and choose Remove.

Requesting review or deletion. To request review or deletion of information associated with the integration, email trumanlakefishingintel@gmail.com with the subject “Facebook Data Deletion Request” and include the Facebook Page name and, if available, the Page ID or Page URL.

Verifying the requester. Before processing a Facebook data deletion request, we will take reasonable steps to verify that the requester is authorized to make the request. We may request additional information to confirm authorization.

Verified requests are handled subject to applicable retention and legal requirements. Some records may be retained where necessary for legal, security, accounting, or business record purposes, and posts already published on Facebook may need to be removed separately by a Page administrator through Facebook.

SMS/Text Messaging

If you are a guide or contributor and voluntarily opt in to SMS reminders, Missouri Fishing Intel may use your mobile phone number to send operational text messages related to guide report submissions, reminder notices, account-related guide communications, and related report-submission notifications. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP, or reply HELP for help.

SMS consent is optional and is not required to create or use a guide account. SMS consent is collected separately from account creation and separately from acceptance of our Terms or Privacy Policy.

We do not sell, rent, share, or disclose mobile phone numbers or SMS consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Service Providers

We may use third-party service providers to help operate our services, including:

  • website hosting providers
  • database and storage providers
  • payment processors
  • email service providers
  • SMS/text messaging providers
  • analytics providers
  • customer support tools
  • security and fraud-prevention tools

These providers may access information only as needed to perform services for us and are not authorized to use personal information for their own unrelated purposes.

Payments

Payments are processed by third-party payment processors. We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers.

Cookies and Analytics

We may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, remember preferences, analyze usage, and improve our services. Users may control cookies through their browser settings, but some features may not work properly if cookies are disabled.

Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide services, manage accounts, maintain business records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

Removing or deleting an entry from the member-facing Personal Fishing Journal does not necessarily physically erase all underlying information from our systems. We may retain submitted Journal information internally for fishing intelligence, historical analysis, aggregated or de-identified analytics, service improvement, fraud and security prevention, business records, and legal or compliance obligations. Derived, aggregated, and de-identified intelligence may continue to be retained and used. All retention is subject to applicable law and any legally required privacy or deletion rights.

User Choices

Users may request to update, correct, or delete certain personal information by contacting us. Some information may be retained where necessary for legal, security, accounting, or business record purposes.

Users may opt out of SMS messages by replying STOP. Users may also contact us at trumanlakefishingintel@gmail.com for help with communication preferences.

Children’s Privacy

Our services are not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.

Our websites may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or policies of those third-party sites.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updated versions will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
