Jason Smith profile cover
Jason Smith’s fishing roots go back to early childhood, when his family moved from the Chicagoland area to Missouri and opened a bait shop on Stockton Lake. Some of his earliest memories are helping around the bait shop, dipping bait, weighing fish, and learning from the anglers who came through the door. That early exposure turned into a lifelong passion for fishing and the outdoors. Jason credits much of that passion to his uncles, Buzz and Jeep, who helped keep him on the water and shaped the way he approached fishing as he grew up. Over the years, Jason expanded well beyond the old-school ways of fishing. He became especially interested in spoonbill snagging and later dedicated much of his time to learning modern techniques for targeting big blue catfish on Lake of the Ozarks and Truman Lake. Today, he uses advanced electronics, current techniques, and years of on-the-water experience to help his clients find and understand fish. Jason holds a Master Captain’s license through the U.S. Coast Guard and guides out of a SeaArk ProCat 240 equipped for serious fishing, including a full enclosure and heat when needed. His boat is set up with modern Humminbird and Garmin electronics, giving clients a chance to not only catch fish, but also learn how fish are setting up and how electronics can help locate them. Through Smith’s Fishing Adventures, Jason guides for blue catfish, crappie, walleye, and spoonbill depending on the season. Whether he is chasing trophy catfish, helping clients learn a new technique, or putting together a fun day on the water, Jason’s goal is simple: help people catch fish, learn more, and enjoy the adventure.
