Jared Fosnow lives in Clinton, Missouri, and has spent his entire life in the Truman Lake area. His love for fishing started at a very early age, learning from his grandfather while fishing local farm ponds and irrigation lakes.
After high school, Jared began fishing local bass tournaments and later expanded into local and national crappie tournament competition across the Midwest. During that time, he also guided some and became heavily involved in the Truman Lake crappie tournament scene. Jared ran the Crappie.com tournament trail on Truman Lake for many years and competed in Crappie Masters events, earning several Top 10 finishes in regional events and qualifying for multiple national championships.
In recent years, Jared has focused heavily on kayak bass tournament fishing. He has competed with MOYAK, KAMO, Bassmaster, WMKFL, USA Bassin, and other events, building an impressive record that includes more than 20 wins and nearly 75 Top 10 finishes. One of his biggest victories came in 2025, when he won $10,000 in the two-day All American Kayak Championship against 183 anglers from 14 states.
Jared currently fishes out of an Old Town 136AP powered by a Minn Kota motor. His kayak is set up with dual graphs, including a Humminbird for LakeMaster mapping and a Garmin for LiveScope. That setup allows him to fish efficiently, control his presentation, and stay dialed in on both structure and fish movement.
Jared’s fishing style is built around simplicity and precision. He prefers to keep bait and color selection straightforward, then focus heavily on boat control, presentation, and slowing down enough to make the right cast or drop count. That slower, more deliberate approach separates him from many bass anglers and has helped him consistently compete at a high level.
Away from tournament fishing, Jared works as a buyer and manager at Everharts Outdoors in Clinton, Missouri. He enjoys helping anglers with electronics, trolling motors, kayaks, tackle, and fishing questions, whether they are trying to solve a problem or get better prepared for their next trip.
Jared has been married for more than 20 years. His youngest daughter is now in college playing volleyball in Iowa, and his 2-year-old grandson gets most of his spare time and attention now that the kids are grown. He grew up in a farming family raising hogs, beef cattle, and milking cows on the family dairy farm. Before tournament fishing became such a major part of his life, Jared was also an accomplished pool player, spending years competing in national championships in Las Vegas.
