About Chad Davison

Chad Davison is from Columbia, Missouri, and grew up fishing close to home. His tournament fishing career began around age 20 when he joined his first bass club. After starting as a co-angler for a couple of years, Chad moved into the boater role and spent roughly 25 years competing in bass boat tournaments across several clubs and tournament series. During that time, Chad built a strong record as a competitive bass angler, earning multiple Angler of the Year titles and gaining experience on a wide variety of lakes and conditions. In 2021, Chad made a major shift in his fishing career by moving from a fiberglass bass boat into kayak bass tournaments. He sold his bass boat, committed to kayak competition, and quickly found success in the format. Since making that transition, Chad has earned 12 Angler of the Year titles across several kayak tournament organizations and has won more than $100,000 in kayak bass tournament winnings. Chad has competed across the country, including multiple Bassmaster Kayak Series National Championships, but his primary focus remains the Midwest, especially Missouri. He has fished most of Missouri’s major lakes, along with many smaller conservation-area lakes and rivers. Chad primarily targets bass and is comfortable with a wide range of techniques, from traditional power fishing and finesse tactics to forward-facing sonar. One of his favorite parts of kayak fishing is the ability to reach shallow, hard-to-access water that bass boats often cannot fish effectively. That versatility, combined with decades of tournament experience, has become a major part of his approach. As a Missouri Fishing Intel contributor, Chad brings serious tournament experience, kayak bass knowledge, and a practical understanding of Missouri fisheries. His perspective is especially valuable for anglers who want to simplify decisions, adapt to different waters, and understand how competitive bass anglers break down a lake.
